Parking Changes

Please see below for an email sent on June 21 regarding the new parking pass changes for grads

Dear Members,

It has come to our attention that UCSB Parking has changed ASE parking passes from Pass B (staff) to a new pass called “GS” (Graduate Student) effective August 1, 2017. This will limit and restrict where TAs/ASEs can park, previously allowing us to park in violet and green lots to only yellow lots (on parking maps). Parking and transit are covered by our UAW 2865 Contract in Article 21.

If you have comments about this, please complete our quick survey (identifying information will be redacted).
We are in the process of pursuing a remedy as covered by our collective bargaining rights, utilizing UAW 2865 resources, and arranging a meeting with Transit & Parking Services and Labor Relations (date and time TBD) to hopefully maintain our parking pass access with Pass B lots.

If you have already contacted TPS, please forward the email to us and copy us on any emails about this issue:

One way to support our rights via collective bargaining and contract negotiation gains- such as parking, wage increases, tuition/ fee remission, health care, gender neutral bathrooms, and childcare is to sign up as a member!
You can also get involved by taking our GSR survey + and supporting SB 201 in allowing GSRs to unionize via this pledge.

UAW 2865 UCSB can also be contacted via email, facebook, and our website.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us about this.

In Solidarity,

Meg Undén (Sociology/ Campus Unit Chair)

Hannah Kagan-Moore (History of Art & Architecture/ Recording Secretary)

Emily Ellis (Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology/ Head Steward)

Dell Rose (Religious Studies/ Head Steward)

Avi McClelland-Cohen- Cohen (Communications / Head Steward)

Andrew Elrod (History/ Head Steward)

Sarp Kurgan (Global Studies/ Head Steward)
