The Next System is coming…are you?

We are so excited to see you next week at the Next System Teach-In at Santa Barbara, April 26-28! People around the world will be tuning in live to watch the teach-in as we, together, explore the systemic solutions needed to bring about real change for our communities. You can find the full schedule of events – including the speaker line-up – at

Please read on for information on how you can participate and logistics for next week.

I. How you can participate:

  1. REGISTER: If you or anyone you know have not yet registered, please do so now! The teach-in is free and you do not need to register to attend, but registering ensures that you get the latest updates and changes to the schedule.
  2. FORWARD: Please forward this message through your networks! We want to have all students, faculty, staff, and community members of UC, Santa Barbara and the surrounding community involved, as participants and contributors. Please forward this message through your networks: departments, organizations, unions, etc. and encourage them to register.
  3. INVOLVE YOUR CLASSES: Students: please encourage your instructors to participate in the teach-in. Faculty and teaching staff: please consider offering extra credit (we’ll take attendance for you) for students who attend. If your course covers any of the teach-in content, discuss the teach-in in your class. Contact us if you need any more information.
  4. ENDORSE THE TEACH-IN: It’s not too late to endorse the teach-in! Sign up your department, center, association, institute, union, business, coop, house, or other organization as a formal participant in the teach-in. Contact us to sign on.

II. Logistics and Directions:

The Teach-In will be held at UC Santa Barbara April 26-28. April 26-27 will be held in Corwin Pavilion, while April 28 will be held in theUniversity Center (specific rooms can be found here).

Transportation: If you are coming from Goleta, Santa Barbara, or elsewhere in the county, it is strongly recommended that you take one of the local buses–either the 11 or the 24x–to UCSB to avoid parking issues. If you choose to drive, you are encouraged to carpool! Paid parking is available on campus (pay at one of the kiosks), or you may choose to try parking in Isla Vista (though parking may be hard to find).
