UCSB’s IDEAS (Improving Dreams, Equality, Access, and Success) called on members of UAW 2865 – Santa Barbara to join them and several allied organizations to protest U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inclusion in the Winter Career Fair, held by Career Services, which will take place on Thursday, January 28th – 9:30am – 2:00pm outside of the Corwin Pavilion.
Social justice activism is an important part of what our union does, including fighting for the rights, safety, and educational opportunities of the undocumented undergraduate and graduate students in our campus community. The presence of CBP on our campus poses a very real threat to individuals in our community. We are proud to stand with them in solidarity, and offer support for our undocumented community. We call upon you, our members, to show your support at the protest tomorrow. For more information, refer to IDEAS’ statement here, and feel free to spread word through their Facebook event page.
Thank you to Timothy Irvine and the organizers of this event for putting together the below fliers. Active links to the cited articles also provided below.
